Spotlight Issues

Tell BLM to Overturn Bush's "No More Wilderness" Policy

Indian CreekBush Interior Secretary Gale Norton – now under investigation for her cozy relationships with oil executives – gave away the farm in 2003 when she struck a backroom deal with anti-wilderness forces prohibiting the BLM from protecting lands proposed for wilderness.  Now, wilderness advocates from across the nation are calling on the BLM to overturn this sweetheart deal and chart a new course for Utah’s wilderness-quality landscapes.

Take Action: Please make your voice heard by writing to BLM Director Bob Abbey and asking him to overturn the "No More Wilderness" settlement!

Help Build Support for America's Red Rock Wilderness Act in the 111th Congress

Capitol Building in DCOn April 2, Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Representative Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) re-introduced America's Red Rock Wilderness Act, a bill that would permanently protect 9.4 million acres of redrock wilderness from drilling and mining, off-road vehicle damage, and other threats to this majestic landscape.

To move America's Red Rock Wilderness Act forward, we must demonstrate strong support by garnering cosponsors -- those members of Congress who will agree to publicly endorse the bill.  Since a new Congress has begun, we must start from square one.  Even if your Senators and/or Representative cosponsored the redrock bill last Congress, he/she will not automatically be added to the cosponsor list this year.

Take Action: Please urge the members of your congressional delegation to become cosponsors of America's Red Rock Wilderness Act in the 111th Congress.
